A Warm Welcome To Ashford Common Baptist Church (Sunbury)

I'm delighted to welcome you to our website. We are a small friendly church meeting in Sunbury. We come from a variety of backgrounds and welcome all who visit us, whether that's for our informal but heart-felt worship or to our home-based fellowship and bible study groups. We started in 1983 as a part of another local Baptist Church, but most of our members have no specific Baptist background when they join us.

Why not visit us soon, but in the meantime I hope our web-site will help you find out more about us.

Sundays

Our main worship meeting is held on Sunday at 10:30 and is normally led by one of our church members, with opportunities for anyone in the congregation to contribute. We are used to an informal style, balancing modern worship songs with older meaningful hymns. We pray for each other during the service and often one of the congregation will share a story of something God has done during the week. People are always available to pray with you after the service upon request. We stream around half of our services (see our home page for dates).

When you arrive, you will be greeted by one of our friendly members. Our seats are suitably spaced (unlike the picture) and there are no 'reserved seats', so simply choose where you would like to sit. We project songs and some bible passages on a screen, so we don't use song books. Most people stand during the songs, but don't feel obliged as some prefer to stay seated. Why not stay for a while for coffee, tea or a cold drink after the service.

We share communion each month, normally on the 2nd Sunday, during which all who acknowledge Jesus as their Saviour are weclome to take bread and wine.

Each Sunday we invite someone to explain something from the bible to us and help it to be meaningful to our life.  We welcome helpful comments or questions during the sermons. We occasionally have an "Open mic" Sunday during which everyone is welcome to bring a prepared biblical message on a relevant theme. We are currently blessed by the Spirit guiding our speakers in selecting their topics rather than our more structured approach of following a series. Our current programme is shown on the home page.

We welcome children to join us and they will be able to have their own, age-related, activity during the adult's sermon. It would help if you could tell us in advance that they will be coming. The children will be looked after by approved workers and we have appointed a 'Childrens Advocate' to speak up for them should the need arise.

We normally meet for prayer fortnightly at 18:30 on Sundays.
