What kind of Church are we?
We are a small but lively Baptist Church with a regular Sunday morning congregation of around 15 people. The age range of the members provides a good mixture for a family atmosphere. We welcome everyone to our meetings, regardless of gender, age, ability (or disability) or ethnic background. Our main meeting is on Sunday, but we also meet during the week for home-based meetings that help us to get to know each other better, pray together and study God's Word - the Bible. All who work with children have been assessed by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Our worship includes modern songs projected onto a screen. As different people lead worship each week the style of worship is never the same (or boring!).
We believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God and try to follow the teachings it contains. During the Sunday morning service we will listen to a Bible-based sermon preached by our Pastor, another of our members or a visiting speaker.
Our primary purpose is to lead people to living faith in Jesus Christ help them become His disciples in today's world. Mission is a guiding principle for all aspects of our church life.
We conducted a survey during an Away Day. Those present completed the sentence 'Ashford Common Baptist Church is a church which ... with their own answers:
... proclaims the Gospel, ministering to the needs of all through the power of the Holy Spirit, and is ready to move onwards and upwards.
... welcomes everybody and preaches the Gospel
... encourages growth in God, in numbers and action, a place where people come and are healed
... could be even more amazing in Jesus name, doing mighty powerful things for good from God
Hopefully, that helps you see that we are worth coming along to!
